It was 1923, when Alessandro Ciceri founded “Alessandro Ciceri & Figli”, to manufacture iron and steel casts.
In 1939 the trademark “Beta” was registered for professional tools; after World War II, the company became involved mainly in manufacturing professional tools.
In the early 1960s the company employed two hundred people, exported its products and stood out as a rising manufacturer of professional tools. The revolutionary “Tank Trolley”, made from orange sheet metal, was developed: from that moment orange would be the colour distinguishing Beta’s style and trademark.
In order to test and innovate the products, Beta Tools (Utensili) entered the Formula 1 world. In 1975 Beta Tools scored its first victory: the orange Beta Utensili March driven by Vittorio Brambilla won the Austrian Grand Prix in Zeltweg, in the pouring rain. Beta Tools would be involved in the motor racing world in the following years as well, supporting some prestigious teams; such tradition is being substantiating through the current partnerships with the Scuderia Ferrari and Yamaha MotoGP Racing Teams.
In the 1980s Beta Tools started a new plant in Castiglione d’Adda (LO) and moved part of the production to the factory in Sulmona (AQ).
In the early 1990s Beta Tools kept investing, introducing laser cut technology and automatising the manufacturing cycle. Setting up a few subsidiaries abroad allowed Beta Tools (Utensili) to further penetrate the main European markets; branches were established in France, Britain, Holland and Spain.
In 1995 the company had its Quality System certified in accordance with ISO 9001 standards.
In 2000 a new branch in Poland increased the penetration of foreign markets.
Today Beta Tools (Utensili) exports its products to over one hundred countries around the world. Since 2000 Beta Tools (Utensili) has doubled its product range, currently relying on over 10,000 coded items. In 2001 the company met a new challenge, introducing safety footwear into its catalogue. In the wake of this success, in 2004 Beta Utensili developed and launched the new clothing range, “Beta Workwear”. In 2006, after two years intense work researching technological innovations and defining new design concepts, Beta Tools will introduce: a range of pliers – unprecedented in design and performance; BetaMax screwdrivers; C26 NewTank, a remodelling of the historical C25 Tank trolley, C40C and a range of safety shoes, entirely renovated in design and technical features.
